Shati Hossain is an Associate Director in the Compliance division at J. Awan Capital, based in the DIFC office. She brings 20 years of experience in financial services, with a career spanning regulatory supervision, consulting, and global banking. Prior to joining the firm, Shati held senior roles at Barclays Corporate and Investment Bank, including Vice President in the Markets Chief Controls Office, Regulatory Change Manager, and Assurance Lead.

Her expertise includes conduct risk, control assurance, and regulatory change management. She has led major remediation programs, swap dealing control enhancements, and benchmark governance initiatives, working closely with regulators and executive leadership.

Shati began her career at the UK Financial Conduct Authority, supervising mid-market firms and conducting risk assessments. She later joined KPMG UK LLP, delivering Skilled Person Reports (s166) and advising Tier 1 institutions on compliance and governance frameworks.

She holds a BSc (Hons) in Business Studies with Marketing Management and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Shati is currently serving as an official UN Women UK delegate/participant, reflecting her commitment to global advocacy and gender equality. She has also made a tangible impact on workplace culture through her previous roles as an Executive Committee Member and Charity Mentor for multiple award-winning Employee Resource Groups.
