Andrew holds the position of Director – Compliance and is based in Abu Dhabi (UAE) office of j. awan & partners.
Andrew is a Director in the Compliance and Risk Management practice of J. Awan & Partners and a highly experienced, versatile, and hands-on senior regulatory compliance / AML & CTF consultant. He has over 25 years hands on experience of assisting financial services firms obtain regulatory authorisation from leading regulatory agencies and to develop and integrate compliance and AML/CTF risk managements frameworks in the fabric of their business. He combines the pragmatism of an in-house compliance officer with the versatility and agility of a consultant. Prior to joining J Awan, between 2010 and 2022, Andrew was the CEO of OpenSpaces Compliance Consultants, a UK based regulatory consulting firm. During this period, he provided regulatory compliance and FCA authorisation services to a diverse range of clients such as investment banks, funds and investment managers, Payment Institutions (Fintechs), Central Clearing Counterparties (CCPs), Exchanges and Alternative Investment Management Firms (hedge Funds). His clients included BNP Paribas, London Clearing House, European Central Clearing House, First Rand Bank, The Nigerian Stock Exchange amongst others.
Andrew holds a master’s degree in Law from the London Guildhall University and qualified as a lawyer in Nigeria after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Law. In addition, he has the Diploma of the UK Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) and has published articles on various topics of financial regulation.
